Welcome to mid January when we finally have a touch of snow on the ground. If you are like most of us, you might have put “start diet” at the top of your resolution list. Maybe you are still on your diet and maybe you aren’t. Do you want to know a dirty little secret about the weight loss industry? Shhhh….. diets don’t work. WHAT???? I know, I know, I’ve got the same neighbor who is hawking some keto product on the facebook and claims to have lost 40 pounds or how about that cousin you have that lost weight counting points? Well my friends, they are part of the 20% club, those individuals who can lose weight on any typical calorie restricted diet, for a short period of time. Unfortunately what they don’t tell you is that weight loss is temporary (but you know that from personal experience, right?). The evidence is pretty clear. Only 1.8 % of people who go on any diet, whether its counting calories, counting points, squeezing your food into color coded boxes or even dialing out macro nutrients on an app, lose weight permanently. Think about that. Would you accept 1.8% solution rate for ANY OTHER PROBLEM ON THIS PLANET? No, of course you wouldn’t so stop believing in diets for weight loss. Do me a favor. Take dieting off your list and instead add the rocket blog where I cut through the crap and your weight loss takes off.
