Do you know what pisses me off? When skinny people get on their high horse about how to lose weight. If you are one of those skinny people and reading this blog then do me a favor and don’t give anyone struggling to lose weight advice. (For my skinny friends who are reading this blog to support me – I LOVE YOU). Losing weight is hard, keeping it off is harder. After working with hundreds of women on weight loss I can tell you that nothing about this group is lazy or undisciplined and none are actively participating in a moral failing. On the contrary; Women losing weight are busting their collective asses.
Treating weight, like treating any other medical condition, takes a nuanced and at times a sophisticated approach. There is no one size fits all formula. I wish there was one nutrition plan, one type of medicine or one type of coaching that helped everyone. But weight, like every other human condition is as unique as each of us. Finding the right balance takes time and dedication. And love. Always love.
And speaking of love, I love ice cream. Sometimes, I have an overwhelming craving for the ice cold, milky sweet tasty treat. Cravings can be rough SOBs. They can literally take your breath away with the urgency and desire. Depending on the flavor- I’m talking to you mint chocolate chip- even all consuming. It took a lot of coaching work for me to learn how to relax into the craving and make a choice on whether or not to indulge from the prefrontal cortex. Lots of coaching. Still requires lots of coaching. For those of you battling the pull of the cravings, I’m offering a free online live training about converting your craving for food into confidence around food. I’m sharing my knowledge as a coach and as a coachee and I’ll include a link to sign up. The first training is this Tuesday, May 25th at 12:00 p,m. CST. I hope you join me.
P.S. Sometimes I give in to my cravings too. It’s truly not a moral failing. It’s just food.
