Anticipation….

I totally sing that word like I am Carly Simon.  I mean if Carly Simon sang off key and knew more of the words.  It’s kind of weird how so many of my thoughts either start off as part of a song or end in a song.  I can’t remember what I did yesterday (thanks, menofog) but I can remember the words to “Summer breeze, makes me feel fine, blowing like the jasmine in my mind” and any other one hit wonder from the 70s and 80s.

I find the brain in generic terms and mine in personal terms, fascinating.  Like what part of my brain had to develop so I can remember song lyrics from songs back in my childhood?  What part didn’t develop?  Don’t answer that because I already know.  DIRECTIONS.  I’ve lived in my town for almost 20 years and I still use my GPS to get around but hell’s bells I can sing you “Brandy, you’re a fine girl, what a good wife you would be…..but my life, my love and my lady is the sea”.  You are welcome to have both of those songs in your head and it all started with me thinking about anticipation.

This week in my online training “Converting Cravings Into Confidence” I talk about anticipation and how we can use our ability to anticipate an outcome as a tool to give us a heads up on cravings.   Your ability to anticipate a craving is like a secret mind ninja skill.  You don’t have to be on constant high alert looking out for when a craving might strike if you know ahead of time that being exhausted increases your desire to eat.  Or maybe for you,  it’s getting called into your bosses’ office or swinging by the dentist for a root canal.

Take some time this week anticipating when a craving might strike.  Don’t be afraid and don’t be overly vigilant.  I want you to try to develop  a sense of curiosity and  try to figure out how your own brain works.   While you are at it, take some time to try and remember the words to “If you like Pina Coladas and getting caught  in the rain….”

I feel kind of bad about all three of those earwigs so I am going to make you a deal.  Sign up for my online training “Converting Cravings Into Confidence” which I am hosting on Tuesday, June 1st at 7:00PM CST and I promise I won’t sing ANY songs.  (Click on the lyric below to get into the online training.)

“Little sister don’t miss when she aims her gun”

Love to you all,

Dre

Let me know what you think....
